Mark Leslie Lefebvre

 Mark’s first short story appeared in print in 1992, the same year he started in the book industry. Phyllis Heintz

Dr. Phyllis Heintz is a first-generation college graduate who pursued her dream of becoming a nurse.


Dr. Heintz stood at the bedside for two decades in various critical care settings. She spent the next two decades in executive positions at a small rural hospital and non-profit organizations, including the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses where she served as the executive director of the world’s largest specialty nursing organization.


She later joined the faculty of the Department of Nursing at California State University, Bakersfield. She served as the department Chair and is now Emeritus faculty. She is a published academic author. Her greatest hope is that by sharing stories of her life and career, experienced nurses will be inspired to share their own stories, and others can imagine how their life’s goals can be achieved with focus, perseverance, and the unwavering belief one can prevail.

She went to UC Berkeley, received a JD from UC Law San Francisco, and studied economics, geography, and creative writing.
